Summer is in full swing and Italy celebrates summer by hosting a number of special festivals and activities.
Sienna's famous horse race, Il Palio, is held during July and August. Before the race, there is a colorful procession complete with people in medieval costume. For more information click here
The Disfida degli Arceri di Terre e di Corte is held in Fivizzano, which is located in northern Tuscany. Local archers compete in this medieval festival reenactment, complete with costumes and flag throwers. click here for more about this event.

Belmar Italian Festival | |
The Italian Institute is once again excited to be a proud participant in the 2011 Festival Italiano at Belmar! Come visit us to learn about Italian Institute's language and travel programs as well as our new line of Italian language books and CDs.
The eighth annual Festival Italiano Food & Wine Festival at Belmar, which will be held on September 10 and 11, 2011, will feature over 70 of the finest Italian food, wine and artisan vendors from the area who will sell ceramics, gelato, sausage, baked goods, pasta, flowers, herbs, sculpture, antique maps, produce, pizza and much more. Festivities include flag throwers from Florence, regional Italian wine tasting for adults, chef demonstrations, live Italian music and dancing, Balistreri vineyard's children's grape stomp, a bocce ball tournament and much more. Belmar has ample free parking! Utilize the garages for fast, free and shaded parking.

To celebrate our new business relationship, Il Fornaio is thrilled to offer Italian Institute members a special happy hour event.

Annual Italian Wine and Movie Night | |
